A beautiful, traditional country
pub and
restaurant, we serve locally produced homely
food, prepared by our talented chef in our coal fired oven, along with a range of traditional ales, beer and cider (
drinks menu below). Set in the picturesque village of East Butterwick on the banks of the River Trent near Scunthorpe, our
pub has a firmly established reputation. Our
bar has the ambiance of an old country house with comfy seats, roaring fires, wooden floors and low beams, creating an intimate and cosy feel.
Originally built in the late 1700s, the building itself has had numerous roles over the years. At one time it played host to a ferry across the River Trent to West Butterwick, and also housed a blacksmiths shop and farm buildings. However, for most of the past two centuries it has been occupied as a
public house and hotel, a tradition which continues to this very day. Located just 4 miles from Scunthorpe, we're ideally situated for a leisurely drink and a bite to
eat. Escape the hustle and bustle of town, get cosy and enjoy some great local
food and drink, served by friendly people and at very reasonable prices. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
